Sustainable management of young forest stands in Lithuania

The silvicultural work carried out in young forest stands is often costly and not very profitable in the short term, although it is essential to reduce vegetation competition and ensure the long-term survival and proper development of trees.

In Lithuania, European subsidies are available to support and encourage forest owners to invest in this type of work. Together with our forest manager, we therefore decided to apply for this call for projects as part of a sustainable and quality-oriented management approach, with the aim of ensuring the future production of high-quality timber in the target species selected.

FRANCE VALLEY REVENU EUROPE V Lithuania branch is implementing Project No. 05EA-KA-25-1-01167-PR001under the intervention measure “Young Forest Stand Tending” of the Lithuanian Agricultural and Rural Development Strategic Plan 2023–2027.

In accordance with the submitted project, FRANCE VALLEY FONCIERE EUROPE will carry out young forest stand tending activities across 37.51 hectares.

• The project contributes to the objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy by supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing carbon sequestration, and promoting sustainable circular bioenergy development;

• The project will contribute to the implementation of the national agricultural and rural development objective of growing sustainable and productive forests under changing climate conditions.
