Acquisition in Romania: 728 hectares of forest

Măgurele Forest and Castanea Forest, mainly populated with deciduous trees and primarily oak. These forests have 250 to 300 m3 of wood per hectare, which is virtually non-existent in French private forests. The property consists of a large 211 ha forest block, comprised of 58 different plots. The forest area has a temperate continental climate with an average annual temperature of 9.8 C°. Castanea Forest’s sloping terrain has a decisive influence on climatic factors such as heat and humidity. It creates a specific climate and also determine the soil depth and the richness of the humus. These influences are reflected in the stationary bonite, which ultimately determines the high productivity of the property. The amount of rainfall (455 mm) during the year is sufficient for the forest vegetation. The driest season is winter (108.6 mm). The forest’s soil type is characterised by clay soils. As a result, the humus content is lower and of lower quality.
